i'm calling this one "surreal" -- i think for the first time -- 'cuz it has a red tiled foreground, i'm thinking i got the category right. :D anyway, "na ki'i" means "statues."

when i was going to college, i used to buy my smokes from a guy from Thailand. i had been there when in the Navy (Pattaya) and told him how much i loved it and the people there, so he sort of "adopted" me and was teaching me some Thai. that was decades ago, but, so i don't really remember much. :D sabaydi mai, brah! Mak (i say/spell that right?)

Oh now I see how you knew some Thai words. The spell isn't 100% right, but I understand it. khop khun krap = Thank you. sabai dee mai = how are you? But I don't know what brah! is. :)

ok! khun sabai dee mai?, then, Mr. Rip. (reply = "sabai dee krap" i think, right? been a long time.)

brah = slang for "brother"; can also say bro, bruddah, bra . . . :D

That's right. I should reply "sabai dee krap" [ krap for male, ka for female]. Thanks for explaining brah. If you want to add brah in the sentence for Thai people to understand. You may use Pee [older brother/sister] or Nong [younger brother/sister] instead. For example ; Sabai dee mai, pee? :)

:iconmililanimak:

i expect i should refer to you as Nong, then . . . the "Mak" in MililaniMak is for "makule," which in Hawaiian means one old fut. :D

khop khun krap, nong! :highfive:

It sure is surreal, for me it has a definite vibe similar to works of Dali and other surrealists. I like your usage of red, and how well this composition is held together

oh wow! thanks for that, Antonio! :iconbummy1::iconbummy2::iconbummy3:

[some of the fractal stock i used had a very pronounced purple to it (can still see it some), so i pushed the red via filters to counteract that "issue." i was worried that maybe i might've overdone it; so, i'm glad to hear from you that it worked out okay.]

:highfive: mahalo, bruddah Noxx. i remember that piece you did w/one of Barbara's stocks (tried to find it in your gallery, just now, but didn't see it . . . did you remove it?) . . . didn't realize it was hers at the time. just discovered the other day "rm" has a stock account on dA. when i saw that statue pic of hers there, it inspired me to do something with it . . . aloha, Mak

was a statue of three woman grouped together, and you had added the missing "parts." this is the link to the stock that made me think of it: [link] , but am now thinking it was a different stock, since the angle, etc. was different maybe . . . ?

Oh yes I deleted it after I was browsing Canan's site and found this...[link]

I was so embarrassed because she did hers first and I did mine much later but it looked like I copied her and I felt like a idiot. I pulled it down and told her about it but she already knew and never said anything to me.

Thats the type of woman she is, too kind for her own britches brah!!!

This has to be one of the best manips I've seen lately, despite the fact that it is not as filled with details as others. Maybe that is the strength of this artwork: less is more. The subject, the approach and the way in which you've worked it out are as original as they come. Good work, keep it up!

seeing this as a state of transition... possibly from this here and now - to a level of purgatory, perhaps to another form of elsewhere

nice work in any event

mahalo, bruddah hew san. if i'm honest, brah, must admit i was just playing around, so am enlighted (and encouraged) by your sense of it. must admit, too, that thoughts fly around in my head as i'm fooling around; and, yes, there were "transitory" ideas going on there (e.g., melting into the foreground  ). mostly, there was for me an attempt to tie the two central figures together. will gladly admit, too, that i was thinking about some of your work when doing this; as i often do, now. aloha, Mak

think you need to play around more then - though think would word that different if mention it to your wife - LOL

And though I like the directness and the sensuality of your other work, find this one fun - and that it is just as thought provoking as your other work - though more open to interpretations.....

And think there are some ideas... some concepts, that can be expressed in the fantasy and surreal genres that are "just fun" to do... and that spark more ideas in viewers as well...

Enjoy your work and look forward to what direction you take it, and of course... no reason why one can't explore multiple genres....
